Michigan Football Lands In-State Running Back Lundon Hampton for 2027 Class

Michigan's football program, led by Tony Alford, secured a commitment from in-state three-star running back Lundon Hampton for their 2027 class. Hampton, who hails from Grand Rapids, Michigan, chose Michigan over Michigan State, Iowa, and Penn State. The recruitment process was swift, with Alford offering Hampton a scholarship on April 2. Hampton visited Ann Arbor twice in April, including attending the spring game, and has an official visit scheduled for next month. He cited Michigan's strong program culture, player development, and competitive spirit as reasons for his decision.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 195 pounds, Hampton plays football at Kenowa Hills High School. He is the fourth Michigan native to commit to the Wolverines' 2027 class, joining Recarder Kitchen, Jakari Lipsey, and Louis Esposito. Hampton is the second running back in the class, alongside four-star Tyson Robinson, who committed the previous weekend. With Hampton's commitment, Michigan now has a total of 13 commitments for the 2027 class. You can watch Hampton's junior year highlights below.
