The win could impact the race for Champions League qualification, potentially allowing the team in sixth place to qualify for the competition. Currently, four of the top five teams have secured their Champions League spots, with Villa likely to finish in the top five as well.
England's UEFA coefficient has earned an extra Champions League spot for the 2026-27 season, which is currently occupied by Liverpool in fifth place. The Europa League winner also secures a Champions League berth. If Villa were to finish fifth, the team in sixth place would also qualify for the Champions League due to Villa's Europa League win.
For Villa to finish fifth, they would need to lose their final game against Manchester City, while Liverpool would have to win their last match against Brentford. In this scenario, the team in sixth place—currently Bournemouth—would also qualify for the Champions League. Bournemouth only needs a draw in their final game against Nottingham Forest to secure sixth place.
Brighton & Hove Albion also have a slim chance of finishing sixth and qualifying for the Champions League, but they would need to win against Manchester United and hope for a Bournemouth loss. Chelsea, currently in eighth place, cannot climb high enough to qualify for the Champions League.
