Cardinals Dominate Reds in Game 1 of Doubleheader: Torres' Debut, Pallante's Pitching, and Walker's Home Run Lead to Victory

The St. Louis Cardinals had a successful game 1 of a day/night doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds. Bryan Torres made his Major League debut and hit his first home run, Andre Pallante pitched well, and Jordan Walker hit his first home run at the Great American Ball Park. The Cardinals won the game 8-1, and there was even a group of Cardinals fans who removed their tarps as the game progressed.

The Reds scored first with a home run by Nathaniel Lowe in the 2nd inning, but that was one of only two hits they got off of Andre Pallante. Pallante settled in and delivered a strong performance, pitching six innings and allowing just one earned run. The Cardinals quickly responded to the Reds' lead, with Alec Burleson tying the game with a single after JJ Wetherholt and Ivan Herrera drew walks.

In the 4th inning, Masyn Winn and Bryan Torres got hits for the Cardinals. Torres, who made his MLB debut after years in the minors, got his first Major League hit. The Cardinals added to their lead with a hit by JJ Wetherholt, but left the bases loaded with only one run scored. Jordan Walker extended the lead in the 7th inning with a home run, his first at the Great American Ball Park.

Ryne Stanek and George Soriano pitched well in relief for the Cardinals, keeping the Reds at bay. The Cardinals continued to score in the late innings, with hits by Victor Scott II and Ivan Herrera, who hit a triple. In the 9th inning, Masyn Winn walked and Bryan Torres hit a home run, giving the Cardinals an 8-1 lead. Matt Svanson closed out the game in the 9th inning.

The Cardinals will aim for a doubleheader sweep in Game 2, with Kyle Leahy starting against Chase Petty for the Reds. The game is scheduled for 6:15pm central time and will be broadcast nationally on Fox.
