Important Service Update: GO Trains on Barrie Line Replaced by Buses for Track Upgrades

Attention commuters! GO trains along the Barrie line will be replaced by GO buses during two upcoming weekends due to major track upgrades. This change will affect all stations except Downsview Park GO and Union Station. The closures are necessary to support faster and more frequent GO service as part of the GO Expansion project. The disruptions coincide with events in Toronto, including a Bruno Mars concert at Downsview Park and the Toronto Blue Jays' home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Plan ahead and be prepared for the service changes.

During the affected weekends, GO buses will operate between Allandale Waterfront GO and the Highway 407 bus terminal. There will be no GO Transit service at Downsview Park or Union Station. The temporary bus schedule may vary from the regular train schedule. Customers heading southbound to Downsview Park from the Highway 407 bus terminal are advised to take TTC Line 1 south to Downsview Park Station. Metrolinx is committed to keeping customers informed, providing alternatives, and completing the necessary construction work efficiently and safely.

The track closures are part of ongoing efforts to improve and maintain the transit system. While disruptions may be inconvenient, they are scheduled well in advance to allow for essential construction work that cannot be done overnight. Metrolinx emphasizes the importance of these closures in enabling crews to work continuously and complete major upgrades. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated as we work towards enhancing the GO service for all passengers. Stay informed, plan your journey, and thank you for your patience during this period of necessary improvements.
