Teen Driver Hospitalized After Reckless Driving Incident in Battle Creek, Michigan

A 17-year-old driver in Battle Creek, Michigan, was hospitalized following a crash and foot pursuit resulting from reckless driving on Saturday morning. A Calhoun County Sheriff's Office deputy observed a black Lincoln MKX driving recklessly and with apparent road rage on eastbound I-94 near Helmer Road. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to comply and sped away, prompting a pursuit that was eventually terminated due to safety concerns. Despite this, the driver lost control, crashed into a tree, and fled the scene on foot before being apprehended by law enforcement. The suspect, a 17-year-old boy from Jackson, was taken into custody without incident and evaluated for minor injuries at a local hospital. The incident is currently under investigation.
