Christopher Cantwell has confirmed his involvement in the second season of HBO's "Lanterns," a series inspired by the "Green Lantern" comics. While DC Studios and HBO have not officially renewed the show, Cantwell, known for his work on "Halt and Catch Fire" and "The Terror: The Devil in Silver," has joined the production as a writer and executive producer. He will take over from Damon Lindelof and Tom King, who are stepping back from their roles.

Chris Mundy will continue as the showrunner, and the writer's room for the series is reconvening to prepare scripts for potential production. Cantwell shared the news on BlueSky, confirming his involvement in "Lanterns" Season 2. He also teased fans with a photo of a John Stewart action figure, hinting at his excitement for the upcoming season.

The cast of "Lanterns" includes Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones. The series is set to premiere on August 16th, and despite the lack of an official renewal, preparations are underway for the second season under Cantwell's leadership.
