Gene Clark was a pivotal figure in the formation of the Byrds, a '60s folk rock band, contributing to some of their most iconic songs. Despite his fear of flying and tensions within the band, Clark left and rejoined the Byrds briefly. He then pursued a solo career and collaborated with other musicians, solidifying his place in the country rock genre. Clark's songwriting prowess was admired by his former bandmates, who later joined him in a new group called McGuinn, Clark & Hillman.
