Alfred Molina Reflects on His Role as Doc Ock in the Spider-Man Franchise and the Future Ahead

Alfred Molina recently shared some intriguing insights about his role as Doc Ock in the Spider-Man franchise. In a recent interview with Variety, he discussed his involvement in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the possibility of reprising his iconic character.

Despite his love for the Spider-Man movies, Molina admitted to not knowing much about the new film and its villain. Having portrayed Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man: No Way Home, he expressed enthusiasm for the franchise's future.

Marvel initially signed Molina to a three-movie deal for the role of Doc Ock, leading him to believe his character's story had concluded after Spider-Man 2. However, Marvel's Avi Arad assured him that no one truly dies in their universe, leaving the door open for a potential return.

Molina candidly shared his concerns about aging into the role when Marvel approached him for No Way Home. Director Jon Watts reassured him that technology could address any physical changes, allowing Molina to reprise his role in the film.

While Molina is open to returning as Doc Ock, he acknowledges the uncertainty of such a possibility. He appreciates the character's place in the villain gallery but would gladly revisit the role if given the opportunity.

Currently starring in Netflix's series The Boroughs, Molina remains optimistic about his future in the entertainment industry. Despite uncertainties about his return as Doc Ock, he is grateful for the experiences and opportunities the role has brought him.
