Road to Omaha: Tennessee Volunteers' Journey in the Chapel Hill Regional

The Tennessee Volunteers have secured a No. 2 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional, where they will face off against North Carolina, the No. 5 national seed. North Carolina, with a 45-11-1 record, will kick off the regional against VCU, while Tennessee will take on East Carolina. Despite a rocky start in SEC play, the Volunteers finished strong, winning three of their last four series to secure their spot in the postseason.

The road ahead for Tennessee is challenging, with North Carolina being a top-tier team and East Carolina boasting a strong program. VCU, the A-10 champions, adds another competitive element to the mix. Tennessee's first game against ECU is scheduled for Friday at noon ET, with ESPNU providing coverage throughout the regional tournament.

The regional tournament will follow a double-elimination format, with 16 4-team regionals vying for a spot in the super regional round. The winners of the super regionals will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, where 16 teams will compete in two brackets before the final two face off in a three-game series to determine the national champion.

The College World Series is set to commence on June 12th and conclude on June 22nd. Tennessee has a storied history in the event, with seven appearances and a national title win in 2024. As the Volunteers gear up for the postseason, they will look to add to their legacy in college baseball's most prestigious tournament.
