While Love Island UK has always been filmed in Mallorca, Spain, Love Island USA has been shot in various locations. The UK version takes place in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, while the US version has been filmed in Fiji, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and California before settling in Fiji for the last three seasons.
The iconic Love Island villa in Mallorca is taken over by ITV every summer, featuring one bedroom, one bathroom, a hideaway, outdoor kitchen, and firepit. In contrast, the Love Island USA villa is a custom-built set with a larger layout and a "speakeasy" addition, with all the beds arranged in a long line in the bedroom.
Challenges play a significant role in both versions of the show, with Love Island UK featuring classic tasks like "snog, marry, pie" and snogging lineup challenges. Love Island USA introduces a variety of challenges, including blindfolded tests and new bombshell challenges.
In terms of the prize fund, Love Island UK traditionally awarded £50,000 to the winning couple, who would then decide whether to split or steal the money. In comparison, Love Island USA offers a $100,000 prize fund, with the winning Islander choosing between splitting or stealing the cash.
