During her time with the Lynx, she showcased her skills by averaging 5.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game in the preseason. Her standout performance included a debut game with nine points and 13 rebounds.

Before joining the professional ranks, Poffenbarger played college basketball for Maryland from 2024 to 2026. She contributed significantly to the team's success, helping them secure an NCAA Tournament appearance. Poffenbarger's impressive stats included averaging 9.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 31 starts. Notably, she had a standout game against Minnesota in December 2025, scoring a career-high 30 points along with 10 rebounds, three assists, and a block.

Prior to her time at Maryland, Poffenbarger played for UConn in 2020-21 and Arkansas from 2022-24. Her exceptional performance as a redshirt freshman at Arkansas earned her multiple SEC Freshman of the Week honors and a spot on the All-SEC Freshman Team. Poffenbarger will don jersey No. 6 for the Sky and is set to make her debut in the upcoming game against Toronto.
