Violent Altercation in Iowa City Ped Mall Leads to Charges: Police Seek Public Assistance

The Iowa City Police Department has filed charges against multiple individuals involved in a violent altercation that led to gunfire in Iowa City. The incident occurred in the Ped Mall around 1:45 a.m., where 17-year-old Ka'Mari Dozier allegedly provided a gun to 17-year-old Damarian Jones, who then fired shots, injuring five people. Dozier is facing five counts of attempted murder for supplying the firearm to Jones, despite being prohibited from possessing firearms at the time.
Following the shooting, Jones fled the scene with 18-year-old Isaiah M. Bates, who arranged for Jones' transportation out of Iowa City and later searched online for ways to dispose of guns. Bates is facing charges of Obstruction, Accessory after the Fact, and Riot. Additionally, several other individuals have been charged with Riot for their involvement in the fight at the Ped Mall.
