Former Vegas Golden Knights Coach Bruce Cassidy Eager to Return to Coaching Despite Setbacks

Former Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy expressed his disappointment at being blocked from interviewing for coaching positions with the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings. Despite understanding the team's decision, Cassidy is eager to get back into coaching. He led the Golden Knights to a Stanley Cup victory in 2023 before being fired with eight games left in the season. Cassidy is currently under contract with Vegas until the end of next season, limiting his ability to pursue other opportunities without permission.
The 61-year-old Ottawa native is open to speaking with any teams interested in his coaching services. Cassidy has an impressive coaching record, with a 178-99-43 record during his four seasons with the Golden Knights. Prior to his time in Vegas, he coached the Boston Bruins for six seasons and the Washington Capitals for two seasons. Throughout his 12-season NHL coaching career, Cassidy has accumulated a 470-254-9-96 record.
As a former defenceman for the Chicago Blackhawks, Cassidy played 36 games over six seasons from 1986 to 1990. Despite his playing career, Cassidy has found success behind the bench and is eager to continue his coaching journey. While he may be disappointed by the current situation, Cassidy remains determined to return to the ice and lead a team to success.
