The Great American State Fair: Lineup Controversy and Performer Updates

The Freedom 250, an organization affiliated with former President Donald Trump, recently announced a lineup of performers for "The Great American State Fair" shows to be held on Washington's National Mall in June and July. However, some of the scheduled acts, including Milli Vanilli and Morris Day, have stated that they will not be participating in the event. Day and Young MC took to social media to dispute the announcement, with Milli Vanilli's Jodie Rocco also confirming that the group had not been asked to perform.
The Freedom 250 organization, launched by Trump last year, aims to lead the celebration of the nation's 250th birthday. Keith Krach, a former under secretary of state during Trump's first term, serves as the CEO of the organization. The relationship between Trump and the music community has been contentious, with artists like Celine Dion, Elton John, and Guns 'N Roses objecting to their music being played at Trump rallies.
Young MC raised concerns about the political nature of the National Mall shows, stating that the artists were not informed of any political involvement. Day also clarified on Instagram that Morris Day & The Time would not be performing at the event. Despite the cancellations, other performers like the Commodores, Flo Rida, Martina McBride, and Vanilla Ice are still scheduled to appear at the Great American State Fair from June 25 to July 10.
Vanilla Ice, known for his hit "Ice Ice Baby," is enthusiastic about participating in the event and celebrating America's 250th Anniversary. The representative for Vanilla Ice expressed his pride in contributing to the celebration and encouraged everyone to attend and commemorate the country's birthday and freedom.
