Flanders Film Days: Showcasing the Best of Belgian Cinema

The Flanders Film Days showcase, in collaboration with Film Fest Gent, will feature new projects by Teodora Ana Mihai and Fien Troch, along with works in progress by Anthony Nti, Chingiz Karibekov, Stijn Coninx, and Bas Devos. The event focuses on feature-length fiction, animated, documentary, and experimental films supported by the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF).

Teodora Ana Mihai will pitch the dark relationship drama "Deux Vies," co-scripted with Ans Vroom and actress Natali Broods. Fien Troch will present "L’Invention Du Sauvage," a historical drama set in 1897. The showcase will also include the feature documentary "A Feeling For The Ice" about Belgian polar explorer Dixie Dansercoer and the animated feature project "Dreamwalker" by Rudi Mertens.

Films in post-production, such as "Oh Lovely Belgium" by Stijn Coninx and "Postcard" by Anthony Nti and Chingiz Karibekov, will also be featured. Documentary works in progress include "Hello!?" by Sofie Benoot and "The Six" by Reiner Holzemer, co-scripted by Fleur Pierets. Completed titles to be screened include "The Assignment" by Patrice Toye and "Heartbreak For Beginners" by Bavo Defurne and Yves Verbraeken.

The first edition of Flanders Film Days was held last year in partnership with Film Fest Gent, showcasing films like Lukas Dhont’s "Coward," Anke Blondé’s "Dust," and Teodora Ana Mihai’s "Heysel 85." This year's event promises to bring exciting new projects and works in progress to the forefront of the film industry.

In conclusion, Flanders Film Days offers a platform for emerging and established filmmakers to showcase their latest projects and works in progress, highlighting the diverse range of talent supported by the Flanders Audiovisual Fund. The event is a must-attend for film enthusiasts and industry professionals looking to discover new and innovative cinema from the region.
