Sir Paul McCartney Reflects on John Lennon's Influence and The Beatles Legacy

During a recent appearance on the YouTube series Chicken Shop Date, Sir Paul McCartney shared that John Lennon was considered the favorite member and unofficial leader of The Beatles. The 83-year-old musician joined host Amelia Dimoldenberg for a casual chat over vegan chicken nuggets and chips at Camden's Temple of Seitan. They discussed various topics like dentists, tattoos, and favorite dance moves. When asked about his favorite Beatle, Sir Paul mentioned that during their time together, they all looked up to John as the leader, even though there wasn't an official leader in the group. He also revealed that many might have considered John as their favorite Beatle.

The Beatles, consisting of Sir Paul, Lennon, George Harrison, and Sir Ringo Starr, were formed in 1960. After the band's breakup in 1970, Lennon released several studio albums under his name and with the Plastic Ono Band before his tragic death in 1980. Sir Paul recently released his first album in five years, "The Boys Of Dungeon Lane," which reflects on his early years in Liverpool with his bandmates. The album includes a track featuring Sir Ringo titled "Home To Us." When asked if he would ever stop making music, Sir Paul expressed his love for the craft, indicating that it's a fun thing to do.

During the conversation, Sir Paul and Dimoldenberg touched on various topics, including his Glastonbury performance and a humorous anecdote involving him and former Beatles drummer Pete Best in Hamburg. Sir Paul also shared that roses and lilies were among his favorite flowers, with lilies holding a special significance as they reminded him of his late wife Linda. He recounted a touching story of how he was inspired by Aristotle Onassis's gift to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and gave Linda a bracelet with "L-I-L-Y" engraved on it, signifying "Linda, I love you."

The Beatles remain one of the best-selling musical acts of all time, achieving numerous UK number one albums and singles. Following the band's split, Sir Paul embarked on a successful solo career, releasing albums and forming the band Wings with Linda and Denny Laine. The band recorded several studio albums and top 10 singles before disbanding in 1981. Sir Paul's musical journey continues to inspire fans worldwide, showcasing his enduring passion for creating music.
