Atlantic Rhapsody: A Cinematic Journey of History, Memory, and Fantasy
China's Rediance has acquired the international sales rights for Zhong Kaifeng's upcoming film, Atlantic Rhapsody, which is scheduled to premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival. The movie follows the story of a supermarket clerk who encounters strange events after accidentally boiling a shark alive. As he is drawn back to his hometown after many years, the narrative weaves together elements of history, memory, fantasy, and reality.
The cast of Atlantic Rhapsody includes Yin Fang, Wang Yitong, Li Xueqin, and Huang Mee, with producers Wang Tianxiao and Zheng Jing on board from A Song Sung Blue. The film's creative team features director of photography Hao Jiayue, editor Huang Bingjie, and production designer Liu Lian, with support from Xiamen Skypeak Culture and Shanghai Skypeak Culture.
Director Zhong collaborated with Wu Linfeng on the screenplay, with Wu known for his work on From Tomorrow On, I Will. Atlantic Rhapsody is among the 12 films competing for the Golden Goblet Awards at SIFF, with the festival scheduled to take place from June 12-21. The film promises to offer a unique blend of storytelling and visual artistry that will captivate audiences worldwide.
