Major Law Enforcement Operation Targets Illegal Gambling Enterprise in Galveston and Fort Bend Counties

A significant law enforcement operation took place in Galveston County and parts of Fort Bend County on Monday, with investigators executing 21 search warrants related to an ongoing organized crime and money laundering probe. The Galveston County Sheriff's Office reported that the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force conducted the warrants to disrupt an illegal gambling enterprise operating in La Marque and nearby areas. The focus of the operation is on alleged organized criminal activity and money laundering associated with illegal game room operations.

The search warrants were carried out at seven game room locations in Galveston County, including establishments like the Gold Chest game room. Additionally, two search warrants were served in Fort Bend County, one at a residence linked to the game room's owner and operator, and another at a warehouse believed to be used for storing and distributing illegal gambling machines. Furthermore, detectives executed 12 search warrants at various financial institutions as part of the financial aspect of the investigation.

Members of the Organized Crime Task Force, the Galveston County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit, and Crime Scene Unit were still on site in the afternoon, continuing investigative activities. The investigation is ongoing, and details regarding arrests, criminal charges, and evidence seized will be provided in a future media statement. The Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force acknowledged the assistance of several agencies, including the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, Galveston Police Department, League City Police Department, and the Galveston County District Attorney's Office.
