A fire broke out in a Queens apartment building early Monday, leaving two individuals in critical condition and a firefighter hospitalized. The incident occurred on the second floor of a 5-story apartment building located on 45-08 40th Street in Sunnyside, Queens. Two individuals were rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, while a firefighter was taken to Cornell Hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. A total of 79 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene, and the blaze was brought under control by 3:21 a.m. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
