The incident unfolded when officers received information about a car linked to a robbery suspect entering the city from the Bay Bridge. Upon locating the vehicle with two occupants, a traffic stop was attempted near Mission and First streets, leading to a chase that ended with the suspect's vehicle becoming disabled on Bayshore Boulevard and Jerrold Avenue. The driver then fired at officers, injuring one officer, before fleeing on foot, while the passenger was also injured. Both the injured officer and passenger were swiftly taken to a local hospital for treatment of their critical injuries. Additional officers were deployed to search for the fleeing driver, who was later apprehended near Bayshore Boulevard and Costa Street without further incident.
