Darius & Friends Concert 2021: A Night of Music and Giving Back to St. Jude's
Darius Rucker recently hosted his 17th annual Darius & Friends concert to support St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The event kicked off with a charity auction that raised nearly $70,000, contributing to the $5 million total that Rucker has raised for St. Jude’s over the years. The concert featured performances by Rucker, Carter Faith, Mark Wills, Lauren Alaina, Randy Houser, Jason Aldean, and more.
Rucker started the night with a two-song set, followed by performances from Carter Faith, who also covered Britney Spears’ “Oops!…I Did It Again.” Mark Wills took the stage next, energizing the crowd with covers and his own hit, “19 Somethin’.” Rucker then performed some of his popular songs before inviting Hootie & the Blowfish’s Mark Bryan to play “Only Wanna Be with You” and “Beers and Sunshine.”
Lauren Alaina joined Rucker for a duet of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash’s “Jackson” before taking the stage herself to sing her songs. Randy Houser followed with a lively set, including a standing ovation-worthy performance of “Like a Cowboy.” Jason Aldean also made an appearance, performing three songs for the enthusiastic audience.
Rucker closed out the night with a high-energy set that included covers of popular songs like “I Like It, I Love It” and “Waterfalls,” as well as his own hits like “Wagon Wheel.” The sold-out crowd left the concert with a sense of joy and fulfillment, knowing they had contributed to a great cause and enjoyed a memorable evening of music and entertainment.
