A bright meteor, known as a fireball, was spotted around Lake Erie on Monday night at approximately 10:42 p.m. Eastern Time. The American Meteor Society received 197 reports from various states and Ontario, including Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Ontario. Residents in Southeast Michigan, such as Brighton, Dexter, Detroit, Garden City, Ida, Madison Heights, Marysville, Milan, Smiths Creek, and Tucker, reported seeing the meteor, which appeared as a bright blue/green light as it broke up and burned in the atmosphere.
