Rocking with Chili Dogs: Cinderella's Commercial Legacy

In 1983, the up-and-coming glam metal band Cinderella seized an opportunity to appear in a commercial for Pat's Chili Dogs, a popular 24-hour fast food spot in Philadelphia. The band, still in their early days, eagerly embraced the chance to be featured in a local MTV advertisement to attract rock club crowds. Despite their youthful enthusiasm, the commercial showcased the band's commitment, even if their performance was a bit rough around the edges.

The commercial, filmed by Richard Haynie and Brian Kreider of Cable AdNet, captured a rock moment as the band members prepared in the men's room at Pat's Chili Dogs. The filming process was filled with fun moments, including a vegetarian guitarist improvising by biting into a bun instead of a hot dog. The collaboration with Pat's Chili Dogs not only provided the band with exposure but also free chili dogs, a perk that they enjoyed.

Unfortunately, the two branches of Pat's Chili Dogs in Folsom and Lester closed in the early 90s, unable to withstand the changing music landscape influenced by the rise of grunge. Despite the closure of the establishments, the commercial featuring Cinderella has endured, bringing delight to fans of glam metal and residents of Philadelphia alike. The band's early commercial stint at Pat's Chili Dogs remains a nostalgic and entertaining piece of their history.
