Florida Family Sues Campbell's Soup and Walmart Over Alleged Worms in SpaghettiOs

A family from Florida has filed a lawsuit against Campbell's Soup after finding what they believed to be worms or parasites moving in their SpaghettiOs. Mary Hubbard purchased the SpaghettiOs from a Walmart Supercenter in Okeechobee, Florida and served them to herself and her daughter for dinner on June 6, 2024. Hubbard noticed organisms moving in the soup while they were eating, which she recorded on video. The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, alleges that Hubbard suffered from various health issues, including a parasitic infection, gastrointestinal illness, sepsis, hepatic injury, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, anemia, and PTSD. Her daughter, identified as P.L., experienced symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and a parasitic infection. Gregory Lovell, another parent or guardian of P.L., is also part of the lawsuit. The family is seeking damages of at least $75,000 from Campbell's Soup and Walmart, both named as defendants, for the contamination and resulting injuries, and they have requested a trial by jury. Campbell's Soup responded to the allegations by stating that they do not comment on pending litigation but believe the claims are baseless and plan to vigorously defend against them. Walmart also issued a statement emphasizing the importance of customer health and safety and mentioned that they are reviewing the complaint and will respond accordingly to the Court.
