Ellen Pompeo to Star in and Executive Produce Hulu's New Dramedy Pilot 'Chicks
Ellen Pompeo, known for her role in "Grey's Anatomy," is set to star in and executive produce a new dramedy pilot called "Chicks" on Hulu. The series, created by Katie Robbins, follows the story of two half-sisters, Chickie and Doreen, navigating life in old Boston after their father's passing. With a legacy of small-time crime, the sisters embark on daring scams that strengthen their bond and fill the void left by their father.
This project marks a reunion for Pompeo and Robbins, who previously worked together on a limited series inspired by Natalia Grace. "Chicks" is an original concept by Robbins, developed specifically for Pompeo based on their discussions during the production of "Good American Family." The show is produced by Laura Holstein for Calamity Jane, with 20th Television serving as the studio.
While Pompeo has scaled back her on-screen appearances in "Grey's Anatomy," she remains an executive producer and occasional guest star on the long-running medical drama. Additionally, she provides narration for each episode. The franchise is expanding with a Texas-set spinoff produced by Pompeo, Shonda Rhimes, and Meg Marinis, slated for a 2027 premiere.
