Double Lives: A Review of Drake Doremus' Alternate-Reality Romance Film
What if you could live two different lives, but neither of them was particularly thrilling? This is the premise of Drake Doremus' alternate-reality romance film, where the protagonist, Ivy, must choose between two very different paths. In one reality, she is with her cheating boss, Noah, trying to build a family and a corporate career. In the other, she is with a soulful singer, Diego, pursuing her musical dreams in a more artistic setting.
The choice between the two paths seems obvious, but the actors' performances add complexity to the decision. While Diego, played by Édgar Ramírez, lacks the chemistry needed to make his character compelling, Noah, portrayed by Jack Farthing, surprises with his sincerity and commitment to Ivy. Emilia Clarke shines as Ivy in both scenarios, adding depth to the character's dilemma.
Director Doremus skillfully guides the audience towards a specific choice, emphasizing the warmth and connection between Ivy and Diego.
