Exploring Unconventional Narratives: Miranda Bailey's Journey in Film Production

Miranda Bailey, known for her work in film production, has a penchant for backing unconventional and genre-bending films through her company Cold Iron Pictures. One of her recent projects is the surreal comedy "Swiss Army Man," which follows a man befriending a flatulent corpse. Bailey is currently involved in the production of "The Boy With the Light-Blue Eyes," a Greek indie film that explores themes of exclusion and the desire for love and freedom. The movie, directed by Thanasis Neofotistos, premiered at SXSW London 2026 and stars Giorgos Karydis as Petros, a boy with blue eyes who must hide his unique feature due to local superstitions.

Bailey's collaboration with Neofotistos stemmed from her admiration for his short film at the Aspen Film Festival. When she learned about "The Boy With the Light-Blue Eyes," Bailey was immediately drawn to the project, showcasing her affinity for unconventional storytelling. Despite the language barrier during the filming in Greece, Bailey found Neofotistos' storytelling voice to be clear and authentic, aligning with her preference for working with creatives who have a distinct perspective and style.

While Bailey does not have a specific plan for future international productions or collaborations with Neofotistos, she remains open to the possibility of working together again if the opportunity arises organically. In the meantime, Bailey continues to explore unique projects like "By Design," a film starring Juliette Lewis and Melanie Griffith, which recently sold to Bulldog Film Distribution for release in the U.K. and Ireland. Bailey's commitment to supporting innovative and boundary-pushing storytelling is evident in her diverse portfolio of projects.
