Tribeca Festival Lisboa Extends Partnership with Impresa Group: A Cultural Celebration in the Heart of Lisbon

Tribeca Festival has announced an extension of its partnership with Impresa Group to host Tribeca Festival Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal for an additional three years until 2028. The indie film showcase, now in its third edition scheduled for December 9 to 13, 2026, will be moving from Lisbon's Beato Innovation District to the Avenida da Liberdade, a prominent location in the city. This shift will bring the collaboration with Portugal's media players and filmmakers to the heart of Lisbon, utilizing venues like Cinema São Jorge, Teatro Tivoli, and Capitólio.

The renewed partnership with Impresa aims to further bridge the gap between the U.S. and Europe by showcasing a mix of independent and local Portuguese films that push the boundaries of cinema in Lisbon. Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the Tribeca Festival, emphasized the power of storytelling in connecting people from different cultures and experiences. The goal of Tribeca Festival Lisboa is to bring together filmmakers, artists, and audiences from around the world in one of Europe's cultural capitals, fostering connections and building a future in Lisbon.

Tribeca Festival Lisboa will feature selections from the New York City-based Tribeca Festival for European and Portuguese premieres, offering a diverse range of films to audiences in Lisbon. The extension of the Portugal edition was announced by Rosenthal, co-founder Robert De Niro, Tribeca Enterprises CEO Rebecca Glashow, and Francisco Pedro Balsemão, chairman and CEO of Impresa Group, during a press conference at the Tribeca Festival. Balsemão expressed pride in the partnership renewal, highlighting the project's success and the potential for further growth and international visibility.

The 2026 edition of Tribeca Festival Lisboa will introduce new programming, including public events like "Tribeca Night Live," featuring music, performances, and appearances by Portuguese and international artists. Lisbon mayor Carlos Moedas commended the festival's extension, noting its positive impact on Portuguese filmmaking, trade, and tourism. Moedas emphasized the unique opportunities that Tribeca Festival Lisboa provides for local artists to showcase their work on a global stage, solidifying Lisbon's position as a cultural hub.
