USC Legends Nominated for 2027 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Ballot

The National Football Foundation (NFF) recently revealed the potential candidates for the 2027 NFF College Football Hall of Fame. The ballot is divided into two categories – NCAA Football Bowl and NCAA divisional/NAIA ranks. Among the 80 players and nine coaches on the NCAA Football Bowl ballot, USC has three player nominees.
The NFF President & CEO, Steve Hatchell, emphasized the importance of honoring the game's legends and their contributions to college football history. To be considered for the ballot, former Trojans must have played within the last 50 years, received All-American recognition, demonstrated academic excellence, and shown exemplary citizenship post-football.
Jeff Bregel, a standout from Redondo Beach, California, showcased his talent as a two-time All-American and team captain during his time at USC. He was also honored with the Pac-10 Morris Trophy for his outstanding performance as an offensive lineman. Bregel went on to play for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL and was recognized as an NFF National Scholar-Athlete.
Another notable USC alum, Mark Carrier, made a name for himself with impressive stats and accolades, including winning the Thorpe Award and being a two-time All-American. Carrier transitioned to a successful career in sports broadcasting and coaching after his 11-year professional football tenure. He was later inducted into the USC Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.
The legacy of these former Trojans continues to inspire future generations of college football players and fans. Their achievements on and off the field exemplify the values and spirit of the game, making them deserving candidates for the prestigious NFF College Football Hall of Fame.
