Ghostbusters Day Celebration at FDNY's Hook & Ladder 8 Firehouse Unveils Ghostbusters: Night Shift Animated Series and Raises $500,000 for Charity

Ghostbusters Day was celebrated with an event in New York City at the Fire Department of the City of New York’s (FDNY) Hook & Ladder 8 firehouse, the iconic filming location for the Ghostbusters headquarters. Showrunners Ben Hibon and Elliott Kalan, along with Ghost Corps executive producers Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, revealed the title and logo for the upcoming animated series, Ghostbusters: Night Shift. The event also highlighted the success of the “Ghostbusters Give Back” initiative, which raised over $500,000 for charity, with awards presented to top fundraising chapters like Buffalo Ghostbusters, Los Angeles Ghostbusters, and Ghostbusters Virginia.

A $150,000 matching donation check was presented to the Starlight Children’s Foundation by Sony Pictures, Starlight Children’s Foundation, and “Ghostbusters Give Back” representatives. The event's proceeds went to benefit the FDNY Foundation. The original Ghostbusters film, directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson, followed a team of parapsychologists in New York City who start a ghost-catching business. The film's success led to several sequels, including Ghostbusters II, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
