Uncertain Future: Balans Restaurant Chain Faces Closure of Multiple Locations
A well-known restaurant chain's future is uncertain as two of its locations have closed recently. Balans, a popular London establishment that attracted celebrities like Kate Moss and Lady Gaga, has informed creditors that it is no longer trading. The Balans East and Balans No 34 locations have permanently closed, while Balans Kensington is temporarily closed. The closure of the No 60 site in Soho was reported by social media users, but there are indications that it may reopen soon. Balans, known for serving food late into the night, had eight restaurants across London, including its flagship Old Compton Street location. The group faced financial challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and put its restaurant estate up for auction in 2020. Despite reopening some sites that summer, Balans Shepherds Bush closed later in the year. The company's accounts are overdue for filing, according to Companies House.
