Bob Dylan Delights Fans with Rare Performance of 'You Ain't Goin' Nowhere' on Summer Tour

Bob Dylan surprised his fans once again by performing another deep cut from his repertoire, "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere," during the second night of his summer tour in Woodinville, Washington. This song, famously covered by artists like the Byrds and Tom Petty, hadn't been played live by Dylan since 2012. The show also featured guitarists Doug Lancio and Bob Britt adding harmony vocals, a throwback to the days when Dylan's bandmates would sing with him.
The setlist for the night included some adjustments from the previous night, with the addition of "Love Sick" and the exclusion of Bo Diddley's "I Can Tell." Lucinda Williams and the John Doe Folk Trio also performed, with Doe playing tunes from his band X and Williams performing classics like "Car Wheels on a Grave Road" and "Joy." The tour, unofficially dubbed the Long Hot Summer Tour 2026, will continue until August 1 in Nashville.
The Basement Tapes seemed to be a theme in the air, as Bruce Springsteen also performed a song from the album, "I Shall Be Released," for the first time at a special concert in Long Branch, New Jersey. This unexpected trend might lead to other artists revisiting songs from the iconic album in their own performances. Fans can only hope that Dylan will continue to surprise them with more rare gems from his extensive catalog throughout the tour.
