COGIC and Thrivent Partner to Enhance Financial Well-Being for Churches and Members

A new partnership has been announced between the Church Of God In Christ, Inc. (COGIC) and Thrivent, a financial services company, to provide financial education and support to over 12,000 churches and their members. The collaboration aims to promote long-term financial well-being by offering virtual, faith-based financial education curriculum, workshops, and generosity initiatives to COGIC members. Thrivent will also provide charitable giving support, including matched giving and a future endowment, to strengthen stewardship across the denomination.

The partnership between COGIC and Thrivent is built on shared values of purpose, faith, stewardship, and service to others. Thrivent will offer a co-created virtual financial education curriculum to COGIC leaders, focusing on stewardship, personal retirement planning, debt management, saving, and spending. The curriculum will be expanded to congregants in 2027. Thrivent will also provide financial education and purpose-based advice at COGIC conferences, workshops, and one-on-one consultations. Additionally, Thrivent will support COGIC's charitable efforts and match donations up to $65,000 annually, as well as create a future endowment fund to amplify generosity.

The partnership aims to make financial well-being an integral part of church life, alongside worship, service, and fellowship. COGIC recognizes the importance of equipping its members with the knowledge to make informed financial decisions, especially for those who have faced systemic barriers to financial access and advancement. Through this collaboration, Thrivent's purpose-based advice, investments, insurance, and generosity programs will be accessible to COGIC's pastors, clergy, church administrators, and lay members, providing expanded access to financial education resources across communities.
