Man's Encounter with Alligator During DWI Investigation in Louisiana

A man encountered an alligator during a DWI investigation conducted by Louisiana State Police. The incident began with reports of a Toyota Supra driving recklessly on I-10 near Bonnabel Boulevard in Jefferson Parish. The vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier and had a tire blowout. State troopers later located the Supra on I-310 in St. Charles Parish and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Victor M. Rivas, 40, of Montz, exhibited signs of impairment and attempted to flee on foot, jumping from an elevated section of I-310 into a nearby swamp.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies and LSP officers found Rivas walking along Hwy 61. When approached by law enforcement, he once again entered the swamp and was attacked by an alligator, sustaining injuries to both arms. Despite his injuries, Rivas continued to evade law enforcement. Eventually, he was located and apprehended with the assistance of a drone. Rivas was then taken to a hospital for treatment and charged with DWI (second offense) and resisting an officer. Additional warrants were issued for hit and run and careless operation related to the earlier crash in Jefferson Parish.

In conclusion, the man involved in the DWI investigation faced a series of events that led to his encounter with an alligator. The law enforcement agencies involved worked together to apprehend him and ensure his safety and the safety of others on the road.
