Pepe sul Cuore: A Tale of Grief and Tradition Premieres at ICFF Lavazza IncluCity Festival
Perfect 7 Media Inc. has announced the world premiere of the short film "Pepe sul Cuore" at the ICFF Lavazza IncluCity Festival in Toronto. The film, written and directed by Oriana Di Nucci, tells the story of Antonia, a young woman trying to heal her mother's grief after her grandmother's death. Rooted in Southern Italian folk tradition, the film explores themes of grief, inheritance, and the rituals passed down through generations of women.
Starring Eva Tavares as Antonia and Claudia Ferri as Mary, the film delves into the concept of the Mal'occhio, or evil eye, and the belief in its curse. Shanna Giannozio and Zak Santiago also feature in the film, with Antonio Cupo serving as the executive producer. Director Oriana Di Nucci brings a unique vision to the project, drawing from her cultural background to create a story that resonates with audiences.
The ICFF Lavazza IncluCity Festival, established in 2012, has become a prominent platform for Italian cinema outside of Italy. The Canada Spotlight programme showcases new short films from Canadian filmmakers, including "Pepe sul Cuore." The screening of the film is scheduled for July 7, 2026, at the Spirit Theatre in Toronto.
