Chud the Builder: Controversial Right-Wing Livestreamer Faces $1 Million Bond and Potential Eviction
A controversial right-wing livestreamer, Dalton Eatherly, also known as "Chud the Builder," is facing potential eviction after a judge set his bond at $1 million due to multiple criminal charges, including attempted murder, across middle Tennessee. Eatherly appeared in court seeking a bond reduction, but the judge maintained the high amount citing Eatherly's previous charges in Davidson County and his actions leading up to the shooting incident involving Joshua Fox.
Eatherly's attorney argued that the bond amount was excessive for a shooting where the victim survived, emphasizing Eatherly's right to bail despite community offense caused by his social media posts. District Attorney General Robert J. Nash highlighted Eatherly's provocative behavior towards Black individuals through his online persona, 'Chud the Builder,' as a key factor in the case. Nash pointed out Eatherly's intent leading up to the shooting and his unnecessary presence at the courthouse where the altercation occurred.
Despite Eatherly's lawyer claiming he was not the primary aggressor in the incident, authorities allege that Eatherly instigated the confrontation that escalated to violence. The defense emphasized Eatherly's First Amendment rights and disputed Fox's legal justification for physical retaliation. Eatherly faces potential eviction from his residence if the bond remains at $1 million, although there is no evidence of eviction as of Monday.
Efforts to bail Eatherly out of jail have been made by multiple individuals, with one offering $500,000 for his release. However, Eatherly remains in custody as of Monday afternoon. The judge has imposed a curfew if Eatherly posts bail, requiring him to stay at home from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily.
