Tom Petty, accompanied by his band Mudcrutch, delivered a memorable performance featuring lesser-known tracks like “Angel Dream” and “Forgive it All.” Roger McGuinn of The Byrds paid tribute to Petty with a rendition of his classic hit “American Girl.” Elvis Costello graced the stage with his iconic song “Alison,” while Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons celebrated Costello with a lively performance of “Pump It Up.” The event also recognized other talented songwriters such as Chip Taylor, Marvin Gaye, Nile Rodgers, and the late Bernard Edwards of Chic.
