2026 Academy Honorary Awards Recipients: A Celebration of Film Excellence

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the recipients of the 2026 Academy Honorary Awards. The honorees include actor Glenn Close, animator Floyd Norman, and director Ridley Scott, with Killer Films producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler receiving the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. These awards will be presented at the 17th Governors Awards event on November 15, 2026, in Los Angeles.
Glenn Close, known for her extensive filmography and eight Oscar nominations, has portrayed a wide range of complex characters throughout her career. Floyd Norman, the first Black animator hired at Walt Disney Animation Studios, has made significant contributions to iconic films like "Mary Poppins" and "Mulan." Ridley Scott, a visionary director with four Oscar nominations, has left a lasting impact on global cinema with films such as "Alien" and "Gladiator."
Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler, the producers behind Killer Films, have been instrumental in shaping American independent cinema since founding their production company in 1995. Their work includes acclaimed films like "Boys Don’t Cry" and "Carol," which have garnered critical acclaim and award recognition.
The Academy Honorary Awards recognize individuals for their lifetime achievements and contributions to the film industry, while the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award honors a producer for consistently high-quality film production. This year, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will not be presented, as it is not an annual award.
