From St Mary's Stadium to International Recognition: The Journey of HourstilAutumn's James Wills

A Southampton band had a remarkable opportunity to perform at St Mary's Stadium as the main support act for Bon Jovi. HourstilAutumn, a local rock band, took the stage on June 11, 2008, after a last-minute change in the lineup. Bassist James Wills described the experience as surreal, with roadies, a dressing room, and catering provided for them. The band delivered a 45-minute set of original songs, but the high of performing at the stadium before a global music icon proved hard to surpass. Despite continuing to perform for several years, the St Mary's gig remained a standout moment for the band. James Wills, now known as Country Jai, has since pursued a career in technology while still creating music. His song "St Mary's Forever" is a familiar tune at the stadium, and his music has garnered international recognition, including a Christmas charity single with over four million streams worldwide.
