Apple Original Films has acquired the romantic comedy "One Month Mark," with Jennifer Lawrence set to star and produce. The spec script was written by Sophie Fleur de Bruijn, leading to a competitive bidding war among producers and studios. The project is being produced by David Ready, Peter Chernin, and Lawrence, with de Bruijn serving as an executive producer. The story follows two characters who struggle with relationships, never lasting more than a month.
While the project does not have a director yet, the search is underway. This marks de Bruijn's second collaboration with Apple, following the acquisition of her comedy script "Early Action" last year. Known for her comedy background, de Bruijn focuses on creating high-energy, emotionally grounded comedies centered on strong female characters. "One Month Mark" is the fourth Apple project for Lawrence, who recently completed filming Martin Scorsese's drama "What Happens at Night" alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
Chernin Entertainment's Brady Fujikawa will oversee the project, adding to the company's successful year with hits like "Backrooms" and Charlize Theron's "Apex." Lawrence is represented by LBI Entertainment and Hansen, Jacobson, while de Bruijn is repped by Anonymous Content and Johnson Shapiro.
