Democratic U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett and rapper Cardi B have come to the defense of Karmelo Anthony, a 19-year-old who was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of Austin Metcalf. The prosecution contended that Anthony provoked Metcalf, who was unarmed, and fatally stabbed him in a crowded stadium tent. Crockett criticized the verdict, stating that the trial's venue and racial dynamics influenced the outcome. She suggested that if the races were reversed, the result would have been different.
