Wolven: The Strategic Battle of Deception and Intrigue Comes to Disney+ and NPO

Disney+ is collaborating with Dutch broadcaster NPO to create a version of the strategy game Werewolves. The show, titled Wolven: Het Spel Van List En Bedrog in the Netherlands, is based on the popular board game and features a group of Villagers competing in a strategic battle in a remote forest village. Among them are hidden Werewolves who aim to eliminate players and claim the prize. The hosts of the show are Pieter Derks and Soundos El Ahmadi.
The French original of the show has been successful on Canal+ in France and ARD in Germany. Disney+ and NPO are introducing the show in the Netherlands, where the format originated. Starting from August 29, the show produced by Banijay Benelux label SimpelZodiak will air on BNNVARA on NPO 1 and stream simultaneously on NPO Start and Disney+, with episodes releasing weekly.
Karl Holmes, Disney+ EMEA GM, expressed excitement about Wolven, highlighting its intriguing nature that keeps viewers guessing. The collaboration with NPO aims to introduce local shows to new and younger audiences while providing Disney+ customers with more local content to enjoy. Disney+ has been forming similar partnerships with European broadcasters, including Spain's RTVE and Italy's Rai, to bring popular shows to the streaming platform.
Wolven is created by Fary and Panayotis Pascot, owned by Jaad Productions and Presque Prod, and was originally commissioned and broadcast by Canal+ in France. The format is represented globally by Studiocanal and Dreamspark and is part of Banijay Entertainment's third-party portfolio, with adaptations across various international markets. Disney+ continues to expand its content offerings through collaborations with broadcasters worldwide, bringing diverse and engaging shows to its audience.
