Patrick Walshe: A Musical Journey from Ballina to the World
Patrick Walshe, a talented musician and songwriter originally from Ballina, will be returning to his hometown for a special gig on June 17. He was the front man and lead guitarist of the local band Polar Moon, which gained popularity in the late 70s and early 80s. Patrick has since pursued a successful music career in the UK, exploring various genres from rock to orchestral and folk to dance. He has also ventured into acting and opera singing, showcasing his diverse talents on stage.
Polar Moon, which included Patrick's siblings and friends, was a prominent band in Ballina during its heyday. The group's early recordings were produced by Barry Devlin from Horslips and recorded at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin. Despite the band members going their separate ways, Patrick has continued to make music and collaborate with renowned musicians like Mick Abrahams from Jethro Tull.
After spending time in the USA composing music for films, Patrick returned to the UK to further his music career. He has worked with English National Opera, written music for stage productions, and completed a Masters in Music Composition. Under the stage name Suttlefish, Patrick has released compelling tracks that showcase his diverse musical influences and storytelling abilities.
