Springsteen and Bono Reconcile at Tribeca Festival: A Look Back at Their Past Conflict and Resolution

Bruce Springsteen and Bono have resolved any past conflicts they may have had. During the Tribeca Festival, Bono presented Springsteen with the Harry Belafonte Voices for Social Justice Award. Bono mentioned a time when Springsteen declined to allow his song "Girls in Their Summer Clothes" to be used in a Gap commercial for Bono's AIDS foundation (RED). Springsteen now admits that refusing to license the song was a mistake and expresses regret for his decision. He acknowledges that he should have agreed to the proposal and apologizes for his choice. Springsteen also performed an acoustic version of his song "Land of Hope and Dreams" at the event. Bono's (RED) organization has raised over $800 million to fight AIDS since 2006.
