Expanding Horizons: National Medical Insurance Imaging AI Recognition Competition Comes to Vietnam

The National Medical Insurance Imaging AI Recognition Competition Organizing Committee announced the expansion of the competition to Vietnam after a successful seminar in Malaysia. The competition, focusing on "AI+image recognition," is the first of its kind in China and is open to teams worldwide. It will take place in Guangxi from August to October 2026, featuring eight professional tracks covering various diseases and medical imaging modalities. The organizers will provide medical imaging datasets for model training, validation, and evaluation, ensuring data security and patient privacy.
The Vietnam promotional event aimed to engage medical institutions, university research teams, and enterprises in Vietnam and ASEAN countries. It introduced the contest rules, technical platform, and registration procedures, sparking discussions on medical imaging AI trends, clinical applications, and regional cooperation opportunities. The event garnered significant interest from the medical and technology communities in ASEAN.
Guangxi, a key region for China's cooperation with ASEAN, offers strategic advantages in location, platforms, and industrial coordination. It has established cross-border cooperation platforms and pilot programs for medical imaging AI technologies, creating favorable conditions for research, development, and commercialization. Guangxi has allocated substantial funding to support AI development and industrialization projects, aiming to enhance the industrial ecosystem and promote innovation in the field.
The contest, open to teams from China and abroad, consists of preliminary and final rounds. The preliminary round will be conducted online, with the final round scheduled to take place in Nanning in mid-October. Registration for the competition closes on July 15, 2026, and teams can register through the official website. Winning teams will receive certificates and support for project showcases, cooperation matchmaking, commercialization, and incubation, fostering collaboration and innovation in the field of medical imaging AI.
