Nashville Predators Acquire Forward Ross Colton in Trade with Colorado Avalanche

The Nashville Predators have made their first move under the leadership of Chris McFarland by acquiring forward Ross Colton from the Colorado Avalanche. In exchange, the Predators are sending goaltender prospect Isak Posch to Colorado. Additionally, the Avalanche will receive goaltender prospect Magnus Chrona, a 2026 third-round pick, and a 2027 third-round pick in the trade. Colton, a 29-year-old forward, has been a consistent contributor in the middle of the lineup throughout his career, although he was a healthy scratch for the Avalanche during parts of the playoffs. This season, he recorded nine goals and 24 points in 73 games, marking his lowest offensive output since his rookie year. Colton is under contract for one more season with a $4 million cap hit. Prior to joining the Predators, McFarland served as the general manager of the Avalanche.
