Declan McCotter, a forward for the Huron-Perth Lakers, was pleasantly surprised when the Flint Firebirds selected him in the fourth round of the Ontario Hockey League draft. His family was there to celebrate the moment, and McCotter expressed his gratitude for their support throughout his hockey journey. McCotter was not the only Lakers player to be drafted, as his teammate Ethan Bridges was also selected by the North Bay Battalion in the sixth round. Bridges, who has played alongside McCotter for three seasons, reflected on his growth as a player and the importance of consistency in his performance. Sully Kipfer, another Lakers player, received the news of his draft selection by the Sarnia Sting in the 15th round.
