The Hollies Heritage Day: Celebrating a Transport Icon and Community Hub

Join us in celebrating The Hollies' rich history and its significance in the UK's transport community. Certas Energy is hosting a special event on Friday, June 26th, from 12 to 5 pm, filled with nostalgia, food, and entertainment. Open to all, visitors can enjoy classic menu items from The Hollies cafe, complimentary ice cream, and refreshments, while also meeting the team behind the site's transformation. The event will feature vintage fuel tankers, an E-HGV battery demonstration, and engaging activities like a tombola and spin-the-wheel with prizes up for grabs.
As part of the festivities, we are launching a Facebook competition where locals and drivers can share their photos, videos, and memories of The Hollies. Every submission helps capture the essence of this beloved truck stop, with two winners receiving a £150 Virgin Experience voucher. To enter, simply send your submission via direct message to Certas Energy Fuel Cards or The Stop, The Hollies on Facebook.
A new hand-painted mural, featuring artwork inspired by memories of The Hollies, will be unveiled in the diner on the day, showcasing the site's rich history. Recognized as the oldest truck stop in the UK, The Hollies has been a staple for generations of drivers, known for its friendly atmosphere and famous full English breakfasts. Following significant investment, the site has been revamped with drivers' needs in mind, prioritizing safety, security, and comfort. Features like ANPR and CCTV, LED floodlighting, secure fencing, and 24/7 staffed security, along with upgraded facilities such as female-only changing areas and high-speed refueling, demonstrate a commitment to driver welfare.
The improvements have earned Safer Parking Freight recognition, underscoring the dedication to driver well-being, with plans to implement this approach across Certas Energy's expanding network. Whether you join us in person or share your memories online, The Hollies Heritage Day is a fitting tribute to a local institution that has stood the test of time.
