Vikram Betal: AI-Enabled Film Adaptation by Historyverse and Birla Open Minds

Historyverse, a content label under India's Collective Studios, has revealed plans for an AI-enabled film adaptation called "Vikram Betal," inspired by the ancient Indian folk tales of King Vikramaditya and the spirit Betal. Birla Open Minds will be collaborating as the knowledge partner for this project. The story is based on the "Baital Pachisi," a collection of stories where the spirit Betal challenges King Vikram with moral riddles.

The "Vikram Aur Betaal" series, which aired on DD National in the mid-1980s, is a well-known adaptation of these tales. The upcoming Historyverse film will be produced by Galleri5, Collective Studios's AI storytelling studio, with a focus on enhancing the narrative and philosophical essence of the original material.

Students from the Birla Open Minds school network will have the opportunity to engage with the production process and gain insights into the use of artificial intelligence in storytelling. The collaboration aims to introduce young audiences to the intersection of cultural heritage and modern technology through the "Vikram Betal" project.

Vijay Subramaniam, founder and group CEO of Collective Artists Network, emphasized the enduring appeal of the "Vikram Betal" IP in sparking imagination and critical thinking. The partnership with Birla Open Minds aims to bridge education with cultural heritage and technology, offering students a unique way to explore India's storytelling traditions.

Nirvaan Birla, managing director of Birla Open Minds, highlighted the project's blend of cultural heritage and AI technology as a means to engage students in creativity and storytelling while honoring India's cultural legacy. The "Vikram Betal" project aligns with Historyverse's vision of creating a platform that celebrates Indian history, folklore, and cultural narratives through various media formats.
