Obama Presidential Center Dedication Ceremony: A Star-Studded Celebration of Hope and Music
The highly anticipated Obama Presidential Center in Chicago is set to open soon, and the Foundation has announced an impressive lineup of musicians for the exclusive dedication ceremony on June 18. The star-studded concert will feature performances by Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Bono and The Edge, Eddie Vedder, Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Common, John Legend, Marc Anthony, The Roots, and Tems, with youth organizations Uniting Voices and Guitars Over Guns also participating.
The dedication ceremony will kick off at 11 a.m. CT on June 18 at the center's John Lewis Plaza, located at 6001 South Stony Island Avenue in Jackson Park. Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama are slated to deliver speeches during the event. The Foundation aims to create a day filled with music, performances, and hope, inspiring people to believe in their ability to make a difference.
Situated on a sprawling 20-acre campus in Jackson Park near Woodlawn, the Obama Presidential Center is the first fully digital presidential library, featuring interactive exhibits and cutting-edge technology. Visitors can also admire a portrait of the Obamas by artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby in the museum lobby, showcasing elements from the Civil Rights Movement, Chicago landmarks, and personal history.
